Washington Head Coach Accepts Blame for Leaving Daniels in Contest Prior to Serious Injury

The Commanders leader Coach Quinn has admitted he bears some the blame for a major injury to the squad’s signal-caller, Daniels.

Particulars of the Harm and Situation

Daniels, who had among the best first-year performances of all time the previous year, suffered a displaced left elbow in Sunday’s defeat to the Seahawks. Although Daniels passes with his dominant arm, the injury has placed his season in doubt. The condition was significant enough that the TV coverage avoided showing replays and multiple athletes looked away as Daniels was treated by team doctors.

Backlash and Coach’s Reaction

Quinn came under criticism as numerous believed Daniels should not have been on the playing surface to begin with. The incident happened in the fourth quarter with the Washington trailing 38-7, making a recovery improbable. It is typical in such situations for clubs to put in their reserve QB to prevent injuries to their starter.

“I understand. I’ve been thinking about it constantly, too, and, wow, I erred,” he remarked of his decision to leave Daniels in the match. “That is 100% on me.”

Aftermath and Team Prospects

Mariota will be the Commanders’ primary QB going forward, but he will guide a team in disarray. After making the conference title game last season thanks to Daniels’s excellence, the franchise have faced difficulties this season. They also lost defensive back Marshon Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a number of other starters on the injury list. The Washington squad are three wins and six losses so far, and it would require a huge reversal for the club to reach the playoffs.
